AI is being brought into hiring in Kazakhstan: what employers need to know
Artificial intelligence is officially entering hiring in Kazakhstan: algorithms will take part in recruitment — sorting applications, matching candidates to requirements and running the first cut. What used to take a recruiter weeks of resume triage compresses into hours.
The benefit is obvious, but automated hiring has well-known pitfalls. An algorithm learns from past decisions — and along with the experience inherits their biases: it can systematically underrate candidates with unusual career paths or "atypical" experience. Candidates, in turn, quickly learn to tailor resumes to machine filters, so a formal keyword match says less and less about real fitness for the job.
An employer in Kazakhstan should take practice, not euphoria, from this news. Let AI absorb the routine — the first cut of clearly irrelevant applications, scheduling, replying to candidates so nobody waits for weeks. But leave final decisions about people to people, and check now and then whom the filter rejected: the algorithm's discards often include the best candidates. AI in hiring is an excellent assistant and a poor judge.
