Almaty enters BCG's top 40 tech megacities of the world
Boston Consulting Group has included Almaty among the forty most technological megacities in the world. Such rankings assess the ecosystem as a whole: the concentration of IT talent, startup activity, infrastructure, universities and the city's involvement in global technology chains.
For Almaty it's the logical outcome of several years: the city has become a regional development hub, teams relocate here, accelerators launch and homegrown success stories scale — up to world-class companies in AI. BCG's recognition converts that momentum into a label the outside world understands.
The ranking's practical value lies in negotiations. A foreign partner, investor or client finds it easier to trust a company from a city that international consulting places in the technology league — cite it in your deck and part of the "is the region reliable" questioning falls away on its own. Inside the country, the ranking is an argument for keeping development and digital teams at home rather than moving them abroad: the ecosystem is already competitive, and the talent to deploy AI can be found next door.
