The Energy Ministry launches digital monitoring of coal supplies
Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry is launching a digital system for monitoring coal supplies: shipments and fuel movement across the country will be tracked centrally, in real time. The reason is prosaic — heating seasons have delivered surprises more than once, with regional shortages discovered after the fact rather than ahead of it.
The management principle behind the decision deserves writing out: a resource without which the system stops must be visible at all times, not checked by heroic phone rounds at the moment of crisis. Monitoring does not solve problems by itself, but it changes when you learn about them — and an early signal almost always means a cheap fix.
Every company has its own "coal" — a resource whose shortage halts the business: stock of top sellers, cash against the payment schedule, the workload of key people. Checking it monthly on request means learning about problems at fire prices. The ministry's remedy works at any scale: a regular digest. In 1Cifer an AI agent assembles it — the owner receives the state of their critical indicators every morning without asking. A week's question for the owner: which three numbers would you want to see every morning, unprompted.
