The year of digitalization and AI: the government checks progress on presidential instructions

Kazakhstan's government held a progress review on the President's instructions issued under the declared year of digitalization and artificial intelligence. On the agenda — advancement of state digital platforms, AI adoption across industries and workforce training: the state publicly reports what has been done and where the lag is.

It's easy to dismiss such sessions as protocol, but for business planning they are more informative than many analyst reports. Presidential instructions in Kazakhstan are the de facto roadmap of state spending and regulation: budgets, tenders, incentives for some industries and new requirements for others follow each item. You can also see which directions are being accelerated — meaning where demand and subsidies will soon appear.

Practical advice for a company owner: once a quarter, check your own plans against the state digitalization agenda. If your sector is on the priority list — look for support programs, grants and pilot projects to join: paying for experiments with someone else's money beats paying with your own. If your sector is among the laggards — expect digital requirements to arrive by directive, and it's better to meet them with infrastructure ready than in firefighting mode.
