Google ships Gemini 3.8 Flash and Flash Cyber: fast, cheap models make mass automation profitable
DeepMind released Gemini 3.8 Flash — Google's third fast model in a short span — and for the first time showed a specialized Flash Cyber version tuned for cybersecurity tasks. The Flash line is a bet not on intelligence records but on the price-to-speed ratio.
For business, models like these are what change the economics of automation. Flagship models are expensive, so they get applied selectively; cheap and fast ones can be applied to the entire stream — classify every inbound email, check every waybill, tag every call. Tasks where AI previously "didn't pay off" become profitable when the per-request price drops severalfold.
The industry-specific cybersecurity version is a signal of its own: vendors have started shipping specialized low-cost models for particular task classes. The practical step for a company in Kazakhstan is to revisit the list of mass routine operations and redo their math at the new prices: the profitability frontier of AI has moved, and it will keep moving.
