OpenAI shares data on ChatGPT usage in Kazakhstan

OpenAI representatives presented data in Kazakhstan on how local users apply ChatGPT — from the number of active accounts to the breakdown by field: education, development, text work, analytics. The key takeaway for business: employees at Kazakhstani companies are already using AI daily, often through personal accounts and without company oversight. That's convenient for the individual but creates risk — work documents, correspondence, and client data can end up in an outside cloud service without the owner's knowledge.

For a business owner, this is a reason not to ban AI but to formalize its use — deciding which data can go to external services and which processes should move to a corporate AI agent with access controls. In our work at 1Cifer, that's often where the conversation with a client starts: a company realizes staff are already using AI on their own and wants the same effect, but through an agent operating inside the company's perimeter — working with 1C, CRM and email data rather than a public chat.
