Trick to block AI meeting transcripts spreads online — worth checking your recording settings
In July, an unofficial trick spread online that lets Zoom call participants quietly block the meeting's automatic AI transcription — a kind of protest against nearly every work call now being recorded, transcribed and summarized by an AI agent by default. The problem: transcripts get stored in the cloud, land in participants' inboxes, and can be accessible to third-party services — while employees and partners often consent to this simply by clicking 'join,' without realizing it.
For businesses in Kazakhstan, this is a reason to review their own settings: which internal calls get auto-transcribed, who has access to the transcript archive, and whether clients and partners are warned about recording in advance. This matters especially for calls covering commercial terms, customer personal data, or internal financial information — a leaked transcript can cost far more than the time saved by not taking notes manually.
