Professional standard "Digitalization and AI application in energy" approved
Kazakhstan has approved the professional standard "Digitalization and application of artificial intelligence in the energy sector". The document formalizes requirements for specialists who deploy and support digital and AI solutions in energy: the knowledge, skills and qualification levels they need.
The appearance of a professional standard marks a technology's transition from the experimental phase to the regular one: while AI was exotic, everyone defined people requirements by eye; now the industry writes them down. Universities will lean on the standard when building programs, HR services when hiring and certifying, companies when describing positions.
For business outside energy it is a useful precedent. Don't wait for an industry standard of your own — describe yourselves what "able to work with AI" means for your key roles: what a sales manager, an accountant, a logistician must be able to do. Such an internal mini-standard turns talk of staff training into a measurable plan, and hiring from guesswork into testing specific skills. Industries where AI competencies are formalized will staff up faster — and the logic works at the level of a single company too.
