Ekibastuz becomes an AI hub: Firebird AI builds out 125 MW of infrastructure
Firebird AI has named Kazakhstan one of its key markets: 125 megawatts of AI infrastructure is being developed in Ekibastuz. The choice of city is no accident — the country's largest power stations are next door, and cheap, available energy is what decides today where AI compute gets located.
The "energy plus data center" logic converts a raw-material advantage into a digital one: instead of exporting kilowatts, selling compute — a product with far higher added value. For the region it means a new type of jobs and infrastructure around which an ecosystem usually grows, from service contractors to training programs.
For an entrepreneur the practical meaning is that the compute shortage — the main brake on AI projects in recent years — is gradually easing in Kazakhstan. That makes both cloud capacity and the AI services living on it cheaper. Planning automation a year or two ahead, you can already budget for scenarios that recently looked expensive: AI agents handling the customer flow, document recognition, analytics across your entire sales history rather than a sample.
