Google's Deepfake Detector Helped Debunk a Fake Photo

Last week, an image circulated online claiming to show a U.S. senator in critical condition in a hospital — the picture turned out to be AI-generated. Google's deepfake detection system helped expose the fake by analyzing signs of AI generation in the image, allowing a quick confirmation or denial of its authenticity. For businesses in Kazakhstan, a similar scenario isn't far-fetched: fake photos and videos increasingly turn up in disputes with clients, brand-discrediting attempts, and fraud schemes involving forged documents or fabricated chat screenshots. A company without a process for verifying incoming images risks either reacting to a fake as if it were real, or wasting time on an investigation that a verification tool could resolve in minutes.
