TikTok launches AI likeness-detection tool — useful beyond social media
TikTok introduced a tool that detects whether a video or image used AI technology to imitate a specific person's likeness, responding to a rise in deepfakes of celebrities and ordinary users on the platform. The feature analyzes a clip and flags signs of AI face or voice replacement, even when the uploader doesn't disclose it.
For businesses outside social media, this matters more than it might seem: fraudsters increasingly use AI-generated voice or video of company executives to trick employees into wiring money, granting data access, or signing documents. The emergence of mass-market detectors like this signals that businesses should set up their own verification protocol — not trust a 'recognized' voice or face on a video call alone, but confirm important instructions through a second, independent channel or document.
The same "confirm through a second channel" principle belongs inside your workflows: in 1Cifer, instructions that touch money go through an approval route with a history of decisions — the "director's voice" in a messenger does not trigger a payment by itself.
