Google unveils Pics, an AI rival to Canva: business design is moving fully into dialogue
Google introduced Pics — an AI graphics service aimed squarely at the niche of Canva and Adobe Express. The user describes the layout in words — "a promo banner in blue and white, strict style" — gets options, and refines them through the same dialogue, with no layers or curves.
Google's entry matters less for the features than for the player's weight: conversational design is becoming a standard part of the office toolkit, as spreadsheets and slide decks once did. For routine business tasks, the skill of "knowing graphic editors" is deflating — what remains is the skill of stating clearly what you need.
For companies in Kazakhstan this is a practical reason to recount graphics costs: standard banners, product cards, posts and slides are dropping to the price of an employee's minutes. It doesn't abolish designers — their time shifts to brand, complex campaigns and quality control, while AI takes the routine graphics. Locking that division into your processes now is the sensible move.
