Kazakhstan to Add ICD Codes to Long Sick Leave List

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health is clarifying the rules for long-term sick leave. The list of 434 conditions that allow extended release from work will get ICD codes, the standard identifiers from the International Classification of Diseases. The aim is to make the paperwork precise.

An ICD code is a single standard label for a diagnosis, so checking a case against the list becomes unambiguous: a condition is either on it or not. For doctors and regulators that means cleaner documents; for employers, more predictability. A long absence directly affects schedules, cover and task deadlines, and the clearer the rules, the easier it is to plan around them.

Check how your company handles long sick leave today: who learns about the absence first, who reassigns the work, and whether a manager can see where the load has shifted. Once the final text of the rules is published, compare it with your HR instructions. Reassigning tasks for someone on extended leave and reminding the people who inherit them is work a 1Cifer agent can do without manual chasing in chats.
