Meta Pulls Photos From Public Instagram Accounts for AI Images: How to Limit It

Meta launched the Muse Image feature, which lets users create AI images based on photos from public Instagram accounts — tagging the relevant profile is enough to turn its pictures into generation material. The only way to limit this technically is to make the account private or disable the relevant setting; otherwise, the photos remain available for that kind of use. For businesses in Kazakhstan, this isn't an abstract privacy topic but a concrete thing to check. Many companies run open business accounts and post photos of staff at events, client case studies, and images of the office and products — all of that content can now potentially be used to generate AI images without the company's knowledge or any control over the result. A sensible step is to audit which corporate and employee personal accounts are public, what photos are posted on them, and whether some of that content should be locked down or removed — especially anything featuring clients, partners, or internal company materials.
