When an AI agent says “done” but the data disagrees
Microsoft has published a post on the Hugging Face blog with a telling title: the agent said it was done, and the database disagreed. It describes a familiar situation in which an AI agent reports that a task is complete, yet the actual state of the data does not confirm it.
The problem is that an agent's words are not a result. A “done” report reflects an intention or the last step taken, while the truth sits in the system of record: entries, postings, statuses. Without a check between the report and the data, the error surfaces later, at reconciliation, with a customer or in front of an auditor. For the details of the approach the authors propose, see the original post.
Pick three processes where an agent writes or changes something, such as invoices, requests or stock levels, and check whether its “done” is confirmed by the data itself. Build in a control check after each action and have a person review any mismatch. An agent in 1Cifer runs tasks: it assigns an owner, sends reminders and reports back, and the outcome can be checked against your 1C and CRM data.
