A digital twin explained through a bakery: how a virtual copy saves real money
Kazakhstani business got a bakery-based explanation of production digital twins. A virtual copy of the line replicates the real ovens, conveyors and recipes: you can change temperature, speed and load and watch the consequences in the model instead of in scrap and downtime on the real floor.
The benefit stacks up from three lines: risk-free experiments, predicting equipment wear, and training staff on a simulator. Until recently such projects belonged to metallurgy and oil-and-gas with their budgets — now the threshold has dropped to mid-scale food production.
For manufacturing companies in Kazakhstan this is a cue to reconsider the technology: a twin is built around data many already have — sensors, records, shift logs. Start with the most expensive section: wherever an hour of downtime or a percent of defects costs the most, the virtual copy pays back fastest.
