eGov to evolve from a service catalog into a digital assistant: NIT chief on the portal's future
In an interview about eGov's future, the head of NIT set out the portal's direction: from a service catalog where a person hunts for the right form and fills in fields, eGov should become a digital assistant — understanding a request in plain language, pulling data from state systems and walking the user through to the result. The logic is simple: the state knows enough about a citizen not to ask the same thing for the tenth time.
This shift — from navigating a system to conversing with it — is now happening everywhere data and procedures pile up. The interface becomes a question rather than a menu; the work of finding and joining information is taken over by AI.
Tellingly, the demand inside companies is identical: an employee does not want to dig through databases and folders for a number — they want to ask and get an answer. 1Cifer is built on that principle: the agent answers in plain language from the data in 1C, CRM and the company's other systems, so the "catalog" is no longer needed. Leaders should try eGov's vector on their own business: how much time do employees spend not on decisions but on hunting the information for them.
