Scammers pose as eGov over fake e-signature expiry

We covered eGov's warning about increasingly sophisticated scam schemes back in late August. Now the portal reports a new trick: fraudsters call posing as eGov or law-enforcement staff, claim your e-signature has expired, and ask for an SMS code or signature data to 'renew' it.

The scam relies on urgency and the authority of an official-sounding call: people hear that an important document is expiring and don't stop to check who's really calling. eGov reminds everyone that neither its staff nor the 1414 contact center ever ask for SMS codes, passwords, or e-signature keys by phone — so any such request is already a red flag.

Check who in your company handles the e-signature — accountant, director, procurement manager — and set one simple rule: never share codes or passwords over the phone, and check expiry dates only through the official portal. The same discipline applies to a company's digital tools: in 1Cifer, access to data and actions is assigned by role and company structure, not granted on request over a call.
